Technology Criteria

Your use of new technology shows us you have a handle on programming your site. After all, HTML isn't our only resource these days. Java, Flash and other tools are readily available to any designer. Be very careful with using technology that hurts the surfing experience. Make sure your tech additions work and that they add something to your site. Nothing is worse than the "Lake applet" for no real reason or one that never loads.

If you say YES to any of these, it's back to work.
• Will your taskbar or status bar show any errors?
• Any of your applets have no "reason for being?"
• The site has no browser compatibility note?
• The high tech additions load very slowly?
• You require me to download a special program?

From Will: High-end php, database or other programming that I cannot "see" should be detailed for us on your application so we can consider it for this award. Please remember that use of technology makes such an improvement to most sites that I now require some of it to win our award, however, overuse or non-functioning technology is worse than none.
